Health & Safety Policy

JK Electrical & Mechanical Services Ltd recognises and accepts its responsibilities as an employer for providing a safe and healthy workplace and working environment for all its employees, contractors, visitors, and others who may be affected by our activities.

We will take all reasonably practicable steps to meet our health and safety obligations, ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and all subordinate legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, and industry guidance relevant to our operations.

The Directors of JK Electrical & Mechanical Services Ltd have ultimate responsibility for health and safety within the company. They will ensure that:

• Adequate resources are allocated to maintain safe systems of work.
• Health and safety risks are assessed and effectively managed.
• Employees are provided with appropriate information, instruction, training, and supervision.
• Competent advice is available to assist in meeting our statutory duties.
• This policy is communicated to all employees and is reviewed annually.

All employees have a legal duty to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Employees must cooperate with the company in fulfilling its statutory obligations.

We have established the following arrangements to support this policy:

• Risk Assessment: All work activities are risk-assessed, with method statements produced for high-risk operations.
• Training: All personnel hold relevant trade qualifications and CSCS cards. Site-specific inductions are mandatory.
• Safe Systems of Work: Permit-to-work systems are operated for high-risk activities including working at height, confined spaces, and live electrical work.
• PPE: Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided to all employees at no cost, and its use is enforced on all sites.
• Plant & Equipment: All tools and equipment are inspected, tested, and maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.
• Accident Reporting: All accidents, incidents, and near-misses are reported, investigated, and recorded under RIDDOR where applicable.
• Consultation: We consult with our workforce on health and safety matters through regular toolbox talks and site meetings.
• Subcontractor Management: All subcontractors are vetted and monitored to ensure compliance with our health and safety standards.

We maintain robust procedures for managing infectious disease risks, following current public health guidance and ensuring the continued safety of our workforce and clients.

This Health & Safety Policy is reviewed annually — or more frequently where there are changes in legislation, company operations, or following significant incidents — to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness.
